Charles’ entire body was humming as he helped to straighten her skirts and make sure that Caroline was well. She seemed in a daze, and her lovely lips were swollen from his kiss. Touching her had been like touching heaven itself. Never again would he need another woman to warm his bed. She was the only one he wanted, in more ways than one.

He took her hands and kissed them one by one. “Are you all right, Caroline?”
